Flood Risk Assessment

At and early stage in the development of proposals for The Bridge, ProLogis and Dartford Borough Council commissioned a flood risk assessment, which was approved by the Environmental Agency.

The results of this assessment reassured both ProLogis and the Council of the high standard of the Thames Tidal Defences and the 500 million pounds development at The Bridge is now underway.

Commenting on the assessment, Maurice Dalton, Senior Vice President at ProLogis said:

"The Environment Agency has set a standard protection criteria of 1 in 200 year flood protection, and while the level of protection in Kent Thameside is much higher than this - one in every thousand year return period - our consultants, Capita Symonds, advised that the residential part of the site should be built on land 5.9 metres above sea level to further reduce any risk of flooding. Taylor Wimpey, the residential developer at The Bridge, has designed its scheme in line with this advice and all the housing will be on this higher ground."
