Passenger numbers 50% higher than expected announced on The Bridge stand at the Thames Gateway Forum.

At an event to celebrate the success of Fastrack on The Bridge stand at the Thames Gateway Forum, Stephen Jordan, Chairman of the Fastrack Delivery Board, announced that Fastrack – the new bus rapid transit system - is proving to be a resounding success.

As the UK's first non-guided modern BTR system, Fastrack will be crucial to the success of the massive regeneration programme anticipated in North Kent. It is already an integral part of The Bridge, the £500 million mixed-use project that ProLogis is developing as a joint venture with Dartford Borough Council, where work on the £25 million Fastrack infrastructure programme is well underway.

Meanwhile, the first Fastrack route in Kent Thameside, which was launched in March 2006, is already becoming a national example of public transport 'best practice'. Passenger numbers are 50% above expectations and there is a very high level of customer satisfaction.

As Stephen Jordan said: "A year ago Fastrack was just a concept – now it has become reality, and with it, real confidence that Fastrack can be further developed over time to deliver all that is expected of it."
